Brother Thomas Rynne, O.S.F.
Brother Thomas (Patrick Rynne) was born in Ennistymon, County Clare, and entered St. Francis Monastery on March 6, 1905. On August 2nd of that year he received the Habit and two years later was professed. His first assignment was St. Anthony's School in Greenpoint, where he remained for nearly twenty years. For a few years he served as principal of St. Patrick's School and subsequently returned to St. Anthony's as principal and superior. This appointment was followed by a brief assignment as principal of Our Lady of Good Counsel. In 1940 Brother Thomas was assigned as Superior of St. Anthony's Juniorate. Again in 1943 he was assigned to St. Patrick's. After 1946 ill health forced him to relinquish regular school assignments. His death on February 11, 1955 ended his religious career of nearly fifty years
