Brother Owen Justinian Sadlier, O.S.F., was born in Brooklyn in 1944, the son of James and Catherine Sadlier. He attended St. Rose of Lima School, Parkville, graduating in 1958. Brother then attended St. Francis Prep, graduating in 1962. After his Freshman year of college in 1963, he entered the Novitiate of the Franciscan Brothers in Upper Brookville. Brother Owen Justinian professed First Vows in August, 1965 and was assigned to the Scholasticate of the Franciscan Brothers in Brooklyn Heights. Brother Owen Justinian graduated from St. Francis College in 1969 with a B.A. in English. Brother later earned an M.A. in English from the University of Notre Dame and an M.A. in Philosophy from the Catholic University of America. From 1967-1970, he taught Social Studies at St. Bartholomew School in Elmhurst; from 1970-1976, he taught English at St. Francis Prep; and from 1979-1984 he taught English at St. Anthony’s High School. Brother Owen Justinian was then assigned to St. Joseph’s High School in Trumbull, CT. In 1987, Brother returned to St. Anthony’s High School where he taught until 1996, when he was assigned to St. Francis College where he continues to serve as an Instructor of Philosophy.
