Tuesday of the Third Week of Advent

Jer 23:5-8; Ps 72:1-2, 12-13, 18-19; Mt 1:18-25

In this reading, we see that at first Joseph decided that he was going to divorce Mary quietly, to avoid shame and gossip. But then came a message from God, and his plans changed. He did what the angel of the Lord commanded him to do and took Mary into his home. He ignored the gossip and the sideway glances because he decided to follow the path that God had laid before him. His blind faith is why St. Joseph is one of my favorite saints!

God knows what He is doing when He taps us on the shoulder. We may not think we are qualified, but God qualifies us. So, what do I do when my plans are different from God’s plans? Do I follow my ego or do I follow God’s plan for me? Ask St. Joseph for help when you are caught up in this struggle.
