Memorial of Saints Basil the Great and Gregory Nanzianzen, Bishops & Doctors of the Church

1Jn 2:22-28; Ps 98:1, 2-3, 3-4; Jn 1:19-28

Remain in Him….the epistle writer reminds us to have faith,
to rely heavily on Jesus . Jesus is our anchor. He will give us the strength
and the hope that we need to help us conquer all that creates anxiety
for us.
“I am the voice of one crying out in the desert, make straight
the way of the Lord. There are times when we feel like calling out as
Isaiah and Jesus did. When we look at the poverty that still surrounds us,
the pain of sickness or addiction, the desperation of the homeless,
refugee or immigrant, we pause and think and hopefully pray for those
carrying these crosses.
St. Francis, the Mirror of Christ guides us to remain in Him.
Remain in Jesus.
Trust in His mercy.
St. Francis challenges us in very practical ways to take on the issues of our day:
By Living lovingly, embracing all as sister or brother,
Care for Creation, our life, the environment around us, the unborn and elderly.
Proclaim Joy and Hope to those struggling with life, jobs, illness, loss of any kind.
Be Living Instruments of Peace in our homes, work places and neighborhoods.
Like St. Francis, mirror Christ.
